Near-infrared detection of singlet molecular oxygen produced by photosensitization with promazine and chlorpromazine.
A sensitive near-infrared detection system has been used to study the steady-state emission of lo, at 1268 nm produced by promazine (PZ) and chlorpromazine (CPZ) during photo-illumination. Singlet molecular oxygen could be detected in a variety of ordinary and perdeuterated organic solvents, but was not detectable in water or deuterium oxide. The emission was enhanced in the perdeuterated organ...
متن کاملPhotosensitized singlet oxygen and its applications
The study of singlet molecular oxygen production and reactivity has emerged as a rich and diverse area with implications in fields ranging from polymer science to cancer therapy. In this review, we address the photophysical properties of singlet oxygen and of the photosensitizers used in its generation. Photosensitizers based on organic molecules and coordination compounds are examined and comp...
متن کاملSelective oxidative degradation of organic pollutants by singlet oxygen-mediated photosensitization: tin porphyrin versus C60 aminofullerene systems.
This study evaluates the potential application of tin porphyrin- and C(60) aminofullerene-derivatized silica (SnP/silica and aminoC(60)/silica) as (1)O(2) generating systems for photochemical degradation of organic pollutants. Photosensitized (1)O(2) production with SnP/silica, which was faster than with aminoC(60)/silica, effectively oxidized a variety of pharmaceuticals. Significant degradati...
متن کاملIndirect EPR evidence for the production of singlet oxygen in the photosensitization of nucleic acid constituents by proflavine.
EPR spectroscopy is used to analyse the influence of D2O and NaN3 on the free radicals induced in frozen aqueous solutions of 5'-thymidine monophosphate photosensitized (lambda greater than 320 nm) by proflavine at 205 K. The results can be explained if the production of singlet oxygen during the process is assumed.
متن کاملEnhanced EGFP-chromophore-assisted laser inactivation using deficient cells rescued with functional EGFP-fusion proteins.
Chromophore-assisted laser inactivation (CALI) is a light-mediated technique that offers precise spatiotemporal control of protein inactivation, enabling better understanding of the protein's role in cell function. EGFP has been used effectively as a CALI chromophore, and its cotranslational attachment to the target protein avoids having to use exogenously added labeling reagents. A potential d...
